Why do you use VoIP?

VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is a technology that transmits audio to the Internet. Currently, VoIP technology is replacing the analog phone which provides ease of use and management. While Srinakharinwirot University installed and used analog phones for more than 20 years. Functions and features are limited that cannot be extended Including the device of the phone system has a long service life, deteriorate, and lack replacement equipment from the product owner, combined with higher maintenance costs. SWU therefore needs to adjust the analog phone to a VoIP phone system to fix the limitations of analog phones. VoIP telephone system has features that are easy to manage, install, move and have low cost.

At present, Srinakharinwirot University has developed ICT information technology system in infrastructure which is covering all areas, such as SWU Prasanmitr and Ongkharak, Panyananthaphikkhu Chonprathan Medical Center and Bodhivijjalaya College, Sa Kaeo Province, which the internet network infrastructure is the heart of VoIP since UTP cable that connected to the computer (PC) has been used in conjunction with the VoIP phone which is sharing resources and helps to save the cost of analog telephone line signals

VoIP phone jack is controlled from the central device, is IP PBX via LAN and internet, which is different from the analog phone jacks that have more complicated steps than the VoIP phone system. At the same time, analog phones require a lot of equipment that make the management process, maintenance and higher costs as well.

VoIP phone system has an advantage of resource sharing and ease of management, but there are disadvantages in the electrical system, LAN and internet network due to all 3 factors, if there is a problem, there will be an immediate impact on the VoIP phone system.

In addition to the advantages of transmitting audio on LAN networks and internet networks with the VoIP phone jack, VoIP can also install software on a computer called Softphone instead of using a VoIP phone jack as well, and currently has developed for mobile devices or smartphone can communicate VoIP via the internet as well. Based on the above information, therefore, Srinakharinwirot University has chosen to use the VoIP phone system.
